Leaving a job during a pandemic.

Leaving a job during a pandemic.

Over the past week I have coached two nurses who are thinking about quitting their job during the pandemic. They share the guilt, the worry they are making a mistake and will end up of failing.

I get it. It's hard to leave to leave something safe for a whole lot of unknown.
But before you settle into safety I want you to ask yourself one question. Is this a new fear or just my old fears wearing a new disguise?
It's easy to pin the worry of making a mistake and guilt on the pandemic, but most of our fears were present way before the pandemic started. It is just another reason why your fears are right and why you should just stay where it's painfully safe.

BUT

Living a safe life does not mean you get a fulfilling life.
I want you to let go of your fears and worries for a minute and ask yourself "What if.."

What if you went ahead and applied for that job that is still available that you have been eyeing?
What if you if you started the path to return to school for your nurse practitioner or doctorates?
What if you started working on your coaching business?
Or my personal favorite:
What if you believed that your leaving would allow someone else the opportunity to get hired for their dream job?
Life is full of possibilities and no matter what you are thinking, leaving a job during a pandemic is completely neutral.
You can decide if you want to think of it as a limitation or an adventure.
I believe in you and all your possibilities.
